Revival

10 years.

Or at least it's been almost 10 years. It's been a while since I last posted something of sustenance. If I can remember clearly, I was doing 40+ hours for a part time job, while also juggling 40+ hours of a career that never seem to be (Didn't help I was clearly terrible at science, attempting to get a doctorate job. That didn't do any justice). I still had all the time to see bands come and go, and hear awesome records but didn't do a review. It was laziness I won't lie, but honestly, I had lacked a joy to do so.

I remember reading stories about how most people in a hardcore/punk scene almost reach a midlife crisis before 30. Not in the sense that they're losing hair or sex-drive, but rather, Do I grow up or don't? I didn't relate at the time and how would I? I still had a bit more of a rebellion to give, why stop now? And even if I did, how do I leave this all behind. Punk as a whole shaped me. My ethics, my views, etc. To give that all up would be to sell out, and for what? 10 years later on the world is worse than it was before. People are complacent. the punk scene as a whole seems non existent. It's not, but things change. MRR is done, the blogs of yesteryear are either dead or vacant. I shouldn't be one to complain, since I was too complacent till now. Even with most of the heavy hitters gone, most have went to Youtube, where you not only get the whole album at your fingertips, but some funny anecdote to go along with. And the bands? Yea, sure my mysterious guy scene is buried, but I've witnessed some fantastic bands here and there. The attitude is still alive, but it still needs a kick in the ass.

If anyone still checks these out, more is coming. Might be newer bands, might be older bands I wanted to post. Shit, it could also be other things I wanted to put out. The funny thing about leaving this blog vacant is finding other recreational activities (I think they're referred to as hobbies) to get hyped about, so if I post some rant about wrestling, don't think I'm weird, as that is already considered a truth. Also in taxidermy, so you know, that's a thing.
